mile to mile

can't disconnect
from the feeling
that we haven't truly met

side views underline
my hypothesis

we talk, and fill
trying to keep what's still there

even if all we see
is the fantasy of what's
for us

each convincing with words
what we can't say

and movement to movement's
a mile away

empty islands of remorse
waved over with dark waters
of insanity

why does it have to be this way?

(stay)

  1. Too many flights on the stairway to heaven. Or do I mean distance makes the heart go wander? The Far Side of Paradise ?

I remember when I had to go to the bank on Friday to get $3 in change to make that long-distance call from the telephone booth, hoping she would be there. I don't remember how long we could converse on three bucks; only that the time was short.

T-Mobile wasn't even a dream. I wonder if it truly helps any now ? Or has it become so commonplace that one omits, or forgets to contact?

    1. sometimes it's hard to have spirit only. other times, it's the only thing to warm the night. so...it wavers.
now you have so many ways to communicate... even memes make the heart tender, strangely enough. a shared smile can be everything :)

  2. Well said . . . .I experienced a couple of serious "wavers" back then, that now seem merely mirages of memory.
