no one

no one
can be certain
what's inside a man's heart

and no one
can tell you
what he means
when he holds you close in the night

no close friend
analyzing his emails
over coffee and bagels

no psychic
with her hands to her temple
and her fingers in your wallet

no psychiatrist
who lies you on his couch
and lies to you by the hour

no dr phil
no oprah

no one

all you can do
is look into his eyes
breathe in his soul

and trust yourself

accept him
for him
and open your heart

and
with whispers in the night
and gestures in the day

he'll reveal
everything

walls between you
will fall
and build strong
around you both

unsure eyes
will learn to
focus
on treasured realities

and
no one
will be able to take away

the joy
you have won

  1. i like the boundless ...i could say optimism of this... [but i can't quite...]...i'd rather say i like the feeling that these are the words of someone who will endlessly search...even in a casual sense...with a glance and a sudden narrowing of the eyes...noticing...when something is added...being open is the thing...and optimism can never quite explain that...i have one of these kind of poems...misplaced somewhere... about a woman i knew was destined to leave me...you do know don't you... when what you see...isn't quite shared...and the missing things are a difference in nature...or a matter of time...as you can see i liked this...

We are mutually circled in G+, but it is true that sometimes the clutter and ever flowing stream doesn't let one discover those things that really count.

Thank you for "no one". Even though English is not my first language, and I sometimes have difficulties understanding poetry, your words made it through completely clear.

The leap of faith we sometimes take when coming across someone new is very vivid and alive in your writing.

You have a wonderful way with words, even though you will say you hardly ever rhyme. :)

  3. no one. What a beautiful poem. I'm sharing it with my wife. It's now my favorite too.
