remind me again
what to wear on my sleeve
besides my heart
teach me again
how to nod and smile outside
while my insides fall apart
i. keep. forgetting.
what i have to be
in order to cope
with what i can see
balled up fists
in hidden pockets
should do the trick
there's no one
more sick of me
than me

Nice pair of poems; "remind" sent me to listen to "High Sierra" by Linda Ronstadt from her Feels Like Home LP. Perhaps the highs and lows.
ReplyDeleteHave you planned a vacation? I will likely be in Arkansas Sep 14, then definitely in Texas the 2nd week of Oct, and then driving back to Arkansas the following weekend. Hope the weather cooperates with all those miles.
i'll have to look into this song. thank you for a playlist.
ReplyDeletei took a week and a half off after a busy time at my work. it helps to know that i can be me every now and then. Hope the weather is cooler than it has been in Texas... i know Oklahoma sizzles right now.
I spent a few summers in Texas at different locations with my older brother when I was in school - Dumas was the worst. Here we usually have a daily shower to cool the temperature, but the humidity is woeful.
ReplyDeleteHave you read anything about the poetry competitions that used to be Olympic events ? It made for interesting consideration when I read about it. If gold wasn't so expensive right now, I'd send you a medal ! :)
