into the banter
of back and forth
a little rain
must fall
it starts with
clouds of concern
over misspoken words
mists up
into misunderstandings
and half spoken
explanations
interrupted over and
over again
then a flood of
furious insecurity
ends all talk
prematurely
leaving us to
pretend the storm
never happened
what's the forecast
for the rest of
our lives?
will we always
look forward
to sun and omissions
or are grey conditions
the only thing
we'll see
weathering you
weathering me
(storms)
then a flood of

ends all talk
- love those lines of perfection - and in the "weathering" I find references to meteorology (storms); seamanship, as in weathering a headland (navigating around danger); and also geology (erosion). All three may be conceived as metaphors of the subject. A connotation of the conjunction "whether" also arises - could there be two minds with but a single thought : "whethering"? The concept that the same thought is doubt, belies the original meaning of the quotation.
Working the words with magic, again . . . .
