of who you were
and smiled inside of myself
i felt the presence
of long ago silliness
and yearned for freedom again
when days were light
and filled with feeling
and time was on our side

Ms. Paden,
ReplyDeleteLess is more, clearly demonstrated. And sufficient ambiguity to embrace the idea that this is about a relationship which has been visited by death or one that has moved on as the lovers have changed within its context - a ghost of who you were.
In either case there is a feeling of, dare I say it, bittersweet here in recognition of the inevitability of change and the resultant impermanence in the absence of true commitment.
As always, your work expresses clearly and concisely important feelings which often dwell just below the conscious surface.
I hope this finds you well.
